Dr. Pete’s Experience and Training with Having been in private practice since 1979, Dr. Pete has seen many innovations enter the chiropractic technology arena. In his first office in New York , he had extensive experience with two different types of traction tables. Those tables were actually the “grandfathers” of the modern decompression traction devices of today. As such, he has had an ongoing interest in the developments of traction throughout his practice career. In 2003, Dr. Pete had an auto accident which put him “out of practice, and on a long term disability”. While on that disability, he took an interim position with a well-known chiropractic management consulting firm. His first project was to evaluate the myriad of “Decompression Tables” on the market at the time. Although he did not study every table, he did evaluate several of the major names in the industry. In addition, Dr. Pete interviewed manufacturers and doctors who had purchased many of the popular tables available at that time. After a thorough evaluation, he delivered his conclusions to his clients –
As an added bonus to the doctors, Dr. Pete’s selection from the group, the Chattanooga DTS, was much less costly than the competitors- the higher priced units cost SE VERA L times more than the DTS! Thus, DTS doctors would be able to deliver benefit to their patients at a more reasonable fee. Armed with this information, Dr. Pete chose the Chattanooga unit for his office when he returned to practice from his “sabbatical” in 2006. Although the DTS did NOT have the marketing “sizzle” of the fancy, expensive units, “I knew it was an excellent clinical choice” Dr. Pete said. In 2007, Dr. Pete decided to search the “Decompression” industry for any tools that would enhance his, already excellent, clinical results. (He even did a comparison of machines again!) His search led him to the “Kennedy Decompression Technique” Certification program. (Dr. Pete met Dr. Jay Kennedy, the developer, while Dr. Kennedy was working with Chattanooga on the manufacture and refinement of the DTS unit). The Kennedy program (KDT) was the only certification program available to doctors which was offered by an independent agency. (Previously, the only training available was offered by equipment manufacturers – to the doctors who purchased their equipment). In addition, the KDT program was the only non-surgical decompression training program that met the stringent qualifications for physician’s continuing education credits under Florida Dept of Health regulations. Dr. Pete was proud to become the first physician of any type in the Tampa Bay region to become certified in the Kennedy Decompression Technique. (Required legal disclaimer-“The specialty recognition identified herein has been received from a private organization not affiliated with or recognized by the Florida Board of Chiropractic Medicine”.) Since gaining his certification, Dr. Pete said, “We have been getting results that we never had seen previously. And, we have been able to help people with more serious problems – patients that we maybe would NOT have helped prior to my certification”. Based on the convenient location of his clinic (just 1 and ½ miles off I-75 at SR56 in Wesley Chapel), Dr. Pete currently serves patients from the entire Tampa Bay area. |
